Membership Has Its Privileges

Your membership with the Las Vegas Hospitality Association entitles you to certain benefits. We would like to take just a moment of your time to tell you a little about them and if you already know, to refresh them in your mind. Please take full advantage of these benefits, they are here for you, our members, to enjoy!

Member Spotlight

One of the primary goals of LVHA is to provide networking opportunities for our members. We all recognize the value of making a friend or two during one of our functions and the further possibility of potential business opportunities. We thought that just because you may never sit next to someone in our amazing organization that could become a potential client or referral, we would help you let everyone know who you are in the most efficient way possible.

In 2011, we launched a great new program called "Member Spotlight". The intent is to provide additional exposure for individuals to the membership at large. At several meetings throughout the year, we will feature LVHA members by showing a 1-2 minute video interview during the breakfast or lunch. The videos will be professionally produced, and a list of standard questions (both personal and professional) for the member to answer will be provided.

If you are interested in participating in the Member Spotlight program, please complete and return this form.

Members will be randomly selected and notified when their name is drawn to schedule the interview production.

Did you know that LVHA members and their children can receive scholarships? Deadlines have been extended to April 8 for the Child of LVHA, Member Continuing Educational Scholarship and LVHA Accreditation Scholarships. Want to go back to school? Is your Child going to College? Do you need a Certified Professional Program? Take advantage of this wonderful benefit for LVHA members here.

LVHA Online CMP Study Program

The CMP designation is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam.

Taxes and Finance

FSAs provide employees a way to use tax-free dollars to pay medical expenses not covered by other health plans. Because eligible employees need to decide how much to contribute through payroll deductions before the plan year begins, now is when many employers are offering employees the option to participate during the 2017 plan year. Interested employees who wish to contribute to an FSA during the new year must make this choice again for 2017, even if they contributed in 2016. Self-employed individuals are not eligible.

An employee who chooses to participate can contribute up to $2,600 during the 2017 plan year (up from $2,550 in 2016). Amounts contributed are not subject to federal income tax, Social Security tax or Medicare tax. If the plan allows, the employer may also contribute to an employee's FSA.

Throughout the year, employees can then use funds to pay qualified medical expenses not covered by their health plan, including co-pays, deductibles and a variety of medical products and services ranging from dental and vision care to eyeglasses and hearing aids. Interested employees should check with their employer for details about eligible expenses and claim procedures.
